Our focus is on upstream causes of plastic pollution (avoiding single use plastics, getting plastics out of the kitchen, reuse) - acknowledging that plastic recycling will not solve our plastic pollution problems.
Our mission is to end plastic pollution in the Ozarks.
Single use plastic bags are a source of plastics pollution that often escapes into the environment or is sent to landfills. Bringing your own reusable bag for shopping is a way to eliminate this type of pollution. Our project will start with educational tables at local farmer's markets where we will distribute information about plastic/microplastic pollution and provide reusable bags.
We will provide presentations and lead discussions about microplastics upon request. Our particular emphasis will be on research and projects in the Ozarks along with providing materials on why microplastics are so concerning.
